Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that the land we are on is the traditional territory of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples. This land is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13, signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, as well as the Williams Treaties, signed with multiple Mississauga and Chippewa bands.

Specifically, in the Don Valley West ward, we recognize that we are gathering on lands that have long served as a meeting place, travel route, and home for Indigenous peoples. We honour their enduring presence, their contributions to this place, and their continued stewardship of the land. We commit to learning from and working alongside Indigenous communities in building a more respectful and reciprocal relationship with this territory.
